Christina Haack Opens Up About Breaking Old Relationship Cycles!

Christina Haack, the popular HGTV star, is opening up about her journey of healing from an “anxious attachment style” and confronting her past emotional challenges. Known for her roles in Flip or Flop and The Flip Off, Haack’s personal life has been widely discussed, particularly her relationships and divorces. Now, the 41-year-old is sharing insights into how she’s working on herself and healing after years of heartache.

A History of High-Profile Relationships

Haack’s love life has been anything but private. She was first married to Tarek El-Moussa, her co-host on Flip or Flop. Their public split in 2016 was followed by years of professional collaboration until 2022. Despite their personal differences, they continued working together, proving that it’s possible to maintain a professional relationship even after a tough breakup.

Haack’s second marriage, to television personality Ant Anstead, ended in 2021 after just three years. In 2024, she went through another divorce from her third husband, Josh Hall. Throughout these changes, Haack has been candid about her emotional journey and growth, openly discussing her struggles and the lessons she’s learning.

Anxious Attachment Style and Self-Discovery

In a recent Instagram post shared on April 8, she revealed something deeply personal: she discovered that she has an anxious attachment style, a pattern that can make relationships feel overwhelming and intense. In her post, she shared how this attachment style often caused her to feel anxious in romantic relationships, as well as co-dependency issues that have been challenging to overcome.

“Things can be challenging, and by ‘things’ I mean ‘me,'” she wrote, acknowledging how her emotional patterns have affected her. She admitted it took her a while to understand this aspect of herself, reflecting on how she had struggled with co-dependency in past relationships.

Finding a Healthy Relationship

What makes her’s current relationship with Christopher Larocca different is the peace and stability she feels. “Meeting an unexpected good man who has his own amazing career, life & hobbies (who also happens to have zero jealousy) can at times feel strange for someone who has had the opposite,” Haack explained in her post.

Larocca, her’s current partner, seems to be a positive force in her life. He’s shown to be supportive and secure, qualities that Haack recognizes are vital for healing. She’s learning that a healthy relationship doesn’t require constant intensity or the ups and downs of emotional turbulence, something she admits she used to gravitate towards.

Embracing Personal Growth

As she reflected on her experiences, she noted that she’s finally learning how to communicate safely and independently within a committed relationship. “At 41 I’m finally learning about safe communication, independence during commitment, and a relationship that is NOT 0-100,” she wrote. Haack acknowledges that she has sometimes put too much pressure on her partners, but now she’s confronting her own insecurities and doing the “shadow work” she had avoided.

This self-awareness is a significant step for Haack as she works to break unhealthy patterns. “It’s time to break the cycle,” she concluded, signaling her commitment to personal growth and healing.

Haack’s Family Life and Support

she shares two children with Tarek El-Moussa—daughter Taylor, 14, and son Brayden, 9—and a son, Hudson, 5, with Ant Anstead. Despite the changes in her romantic life, she continues to prioritize her family and her children’s well-being. Haack’s ex-husband, Tarek, and his current wife, Heather Rae El-Moussa, are on good terms with Haack, and Heather recently spoke positively about Haack’s current partner, Larocca.

“We’ve gone to dinner with them a couple of times, and he’s come to some kid things, and I’d say, so far I like him,” Heather shared with Realtor.com in March. She added that she seems happy with Larocca, which speaks to the stability and support Haack has found in her personal life.
